Books for Leisure Reading

Should a visually impaired student's life be all work and no trashy romance novels? No. Sometimes the brain needs a break from deep, important, official reading--and that's when it's time to relax with a little Harry Potter! Here are some organizations we think can help you get fun reading in a format accessible to you!

Here's a great site for bookworms! This site was created by a visually impaired student at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and it has several cool resources on it.

Seedlings publishes great low-priced children's books in braille, and they can certainly get you those Harry Potter books mentioned above!

The National Braille Press publishes low-priced books and magazines in large print, in braille, and on computer disk, about topics ranging from computers to cooking to self-defense.

The Braille and Talking Book Library at the Perkins School for the Blind lends out leisure reading books in braille and on 4-track cassette.

BookShare.org allows members to download from its electronic library of over 11,000 books scanned in by other members.
